Lizet van Beek

I am a singer, theater maker, and performer, dedicated to telling stories.

My conservatory education provided me with a musical foundation, and I gained experience in acting and directing with companies like Theater Vandenbulck and directors like Derek Scott.

My love for the stage began in Hilvarenbeek, from performances at home to school shows. At the age of 14, I found my place in the youth center Lieve Hemel, from which the Veulpoepers later emerged, of which I was a part. After studying classical singing, I worked with, among others, Semola Teatro and Close Act and created my own opera productions.

Currently, I am performing with the Leonard Cohen Band and with my solo program Les vieux Amants with pianist Doré van Deijck. My connection with Cohen began in my student days when his music echoed daily in our squatted house. "Suzanne" touched me as a child, by the way, in the version by Herman van Veen.
